Wuthering Waves Pull Planner — Resource Optimization
A pull planner is how you stop gambling and start scheduling. Instead of staring at your Astrite balance the day a banner drops, you decide weeks in advance which Resonators you are actually attempting, how many pulls each attempt is budgeted, and — most importantly — when to skip. This guide is the planning method; for the instant math on a single banner, use the Wuthering Waves pull calculator.
The Pity Rules Your Plan Runs On
Every pull plan is built on four fixed rules:
- 160 Astrite = 1 pull. The exchange rate never changes.
- Soft pity starts at pull 65; hard pity at pull 80. The 5★ base rate is 0.8%, so almost every 5★ lands between pulls 65 and 80.
- 50/50 then guarantee. A featured-banner 5★ is the featured Resonator half the time; if you lose that coin flip, your next 5★ is guaranteed featured.
- Same-type carryover. Your pull counter and a lost 50/50 both carry between featured Resonator banners — a half-finished pity is never wasted unless you switch banner types.
The full cost table (12,800 Astrite for a hard-pity 5★, 25,600 worst case) is broken down in the Astrite calculator guide.
Pity Planning — Step by Step
- Write down your current pity state. Open any featured banner's detail screen and count your pulls since the last 5★ — plus whether you lost the last 50/50. That single number (0–79, plus guarantee yes/no) defines everything.
- List the banners you care about for the next two patches. The event calendar shows current and confirmed upcoming phases with dates.
- Assign a budget to each. A full guarantee attempt is 160 pulls; riding a banked 50/50 loss is 80; a low-pity start (under 40) is closer to 100–120 in practice.
- Subtract in priority order. Fund your must-have first. Whatever remains goes to the second target — and if nothing remains, that target becomes a skip, decided now rather than mid-banner.
When to Pull — and When to Skip
The planner's hardest job is saying no. Three rules that hold up over a patch cycle:
- Never start a banner you cannot finish. Entering a banner at 20 pulls with no guarantee banked means you spend 20 pulls to stay unlucky — the pity carries, but the currency is gone.
- Bank guarantees for must-haves. If you lost your last 50/50, your next 5★ is featured no matter which banner it lands on. That state is worth more than the currency itself — spend it only on characters you ranked highly on the tier list, not the first appealing banner.
- Version previews exist to be used. Kuro drip-markets the next patch's characters before the current banner ends. If the 3.7 preview matters to you, the current phase-two banner is where discipline pays.
F2P vs Light-Spender Expectations
Whatever your budget type, the planning method is identical — only the multiplier changes:
- F2P: plan for one guaranteed featured 5★ (160 pulls) per patch cycle at most, and often every other cycle. Track your own income by reviewing your launch history each patch — your actual earn rate beats any estimate.
- Light spender (battlepass + monthly-style top-ups): roughly doubles the F2P cadence — one guaranteed attempt most cycles. The same priority-order budgeting applies.
- Everyone: weapon banners and standard-banner tides are separate budgets. A featured weapon should never be funded by money earmarked for a Resonator guarantee.
FAQ
What is a pull planner in Wuthering Waves?
A method for deciding in advance which upcoming banners you will attempt, how many pulls each is budgeted, and which you will skip — based on your current pity counter, banked guarantees, and expected Astrite income.
How many pulls do I need for a guaranteed character?
Worst case 160 pulls (25,600 Astrite): 80 to hit hard pity, doubled if you lose the 50/50. With a banked 50/50 loss, 80 pulls suffice. Starting below pull 40, most players land the 5★ within 100–120 pulls thanks to soft pity.
Does my pity reset when a new banner starts?
No. Your pull counter and any lost 50/50 guarantee carry over between featured Resonator banners of the same type. Only switching banner types (e.g., to the standard weapon banner) leaves that state behind.
Should I pull on phase 1 or wait for phase 2?
Wait for the version preview. Kuro confirms the next patch's lineup before the current banner ends — if a phase-2 or next-patch character ranks higher on your personal priority list, banking the guarantee is the better plan.
