This is the launch-week Lucy build guide for Wuthering Waves 3.4. Lucy is the headline 5★ Spectro Pistol from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collaboration — and she is the game's first Heavy-Attack-focused Spectro carry. Her Hack-Shifting mechanic amplifies Heavy Attack DMG and shaves enemy DEF, so she scales very differently from a standard Crit DPS — every weapon, echo, and substat choice should be evaluated through "does this raise Heavy Attack output?" rather than generic Crit-DPS thinking. She runs the Phase 1 banner (June 8 – July 9) alongside the free 5★ Rebecca event drop.

Her combat loop centres on three confirmed pillars: Root Access stacks built by Basic Attack chains and Resonance Skill hits feed her Heavy Attack progression; a state-shift into Algorithm Compaction grants Spectro DMG Bonus + 1 SQL stack on entry and reshapes her moveset into Thread Shredding Basic Attacks and Single Threading Heavy Attacks; and her Liberation Netrunner opens the Protocol Interface, where she spends RAM on Spoofing Programs to mark / debuff / nuke groups before unleashing Override, a massive AoE Spectro finisher.

Core mechanic — Root Access, Algorithm Compaction & SQL

Lucy's Forte revolves around three confirmed pieces. First, Root Access stacks accumulate on her target via Basic Attack chains and her Resonance Skill; at full stacks her Single Threading Heavy Attack upgrades into Dual Threading, which then chains into Heavy Attack – Multithreading, the empowered Heavy Attack that consumes SQL for a massive multiplier boost. Second, she cycles between her base Pistol kit and an empowered Algorithm Compaction state — entering Algorithm Compaction grants her a Spectro DMG Bonus + 1 SQL stack, and upgrades Basic Attacks into Thread Shredding. Third, her Liberation Netrunner opens the Protocol Interface, where she spends RAM on Spoofing Programs (mark / debuff / nuke), then finishes with Override, a massive AoE Spectro burst that consumes accumulated Root Access stacks.

The defining buff is Hack-Shifting: it grants +25% Heavy Attack DMG amplification and lets Heavy Attacks ignore 10% of enemy DEF for the duration. Every weapon, echo, and substat choice should be evaluated through "does this raise Heavy Attack output?" rather than generic Crit DPS thinking.

Abilities at a glance

• Basic Attack — 5-segment Pistol combo. Each completed chain builds Root Access stacks — do not swap-cancel at hit 3-4 if you want full stacks. In Algorithm Compaction, the combo upgrades to Thread Shredding.
• Resonance Skill — adds Root Access stacks and helps trigger the Algorithm Compaction state. Use it on cooldown during burst windows.
• Algorithm Compaction (state) — empowered cyberspace mode entered via her kit's Deadlock trigger. Grants Spectro DMG Bonus + 1 SQL stack on entry and reshapes her moveset.
• Heavy Attack – Single / Dual / Multithreading — three-stage progression. Hits build Root Access; at full stacks Single Threading upgrades to Dual Threading; spending SQL on Multithreading amplifies the multiplier dramatically. This is the core damage payoff — land it inside the Hack-Shifting window.
• Resonance Liberation — Netrunner — opens the Protocol Interface where Lucy spends RAM on Spoofing Programs (mark / debuff / nuke effects), then consumes all accumulated Root Access stacks for Override, a massive AoE Spectro finisher.

Stat priorities

Heavy Attack focus note: Lucy is unique among Spectro DPS in scaling primarily through Heavy Attacks rather than Basic-Attack chains. The Hack-Shifting +25% Heavy Attack DMG buff is on for most of her burst window, so investments that raise Heavy Attack output (specific Forte nodes, S2 Heavy-Attack multiplier boost, S6 Heavy-Attack DMG amplifier on Hack-Shifted targets) compound multiplicatively.

Echo build

Echo set — 1+2+2 hybrid (1pc Shadow of Shattered Dreams + 2× 2pc Spectro DMG)

Post-launch the optimal Lucy build is a 1+2+2 hybrid, not a clean five-piece. Run 1 piece of Shadow of Shattered Dreams — the new Hack-Shifting set, taken as the Adam Smasher 4-cost echo whose single-piece effect feeds her Heavy-Attack loop — then pair two 2-piece Spectro DMG Bonus sets such as Rite of Gilded Revelation and Celestial Light (+10% Spectro DMG each). The hybrid keeps the strong boss 4-cost while stacking more Spectro DMG than forcing a full five-piece of the new set.

Echo costs & main stats

Substat priority

Crit Rate > Crit DMG > ATK% > Energy Regen (until comfortable rotation) > flat ATK. Skip HP and DEF substats entirely.

Team 1 — F2P Cyberpunk pair

Team 2 — Spectro mono-element

Pair Lucy with Jinhsi (Spectro main DPS) for double-Spectro element resonance, plus a healer. Jinhsi's high Crit ratios complement Lucy's burst windows.

Team 3 — Premium endgame

Premium team picks may shift as the launch-week meta settles.

Rotation guide

1. Support / opener — set up your healer / Rebecca buffs first.
2. Swap to Lucy — Intro Skill, then alternate Normal Attack chains and Resonance Skill to stack Hack-Shifting.
3. Threshold check — once Hack-Shifting threshold reached, immediately cast Resonance Liberation for the converted Spectro burst.
4. Outro — pass to next character for their buff window.

Forte (talent) priority

Resonance Chain (Sequence Nodes)

Lucy is fully functional at S0 — her core stack-resource loop, Algorithm Compaction state-shift, SQL-fed Heavy Attack and Netrunner Liberation are all complete from the base kit. Her Resonance Chain effects, with community-reported values, are:

F2P recommendation: stop at S0 — her kit is fully functional from base. S2 is widely reported as the first major DPS jump if you want to invest. S6 is the whale dream node (Heavy Attack amplifier on Hack-Shifted targets compounds with her base Hack-Shifting buff).

Ascension & materials

Lucy's ascension uses standard 5-star materials: a weekly-boss drop, a Spectro Tacet Core, a Somnoire region local specialty (new in 3.4), and common Whisperin / Howler drops. Tacet Cores are usually the bottleneck — plan your Waveplate around the matching boss rotation.
