Adam Smasher Boss Guide (Wuthering Waves 3.4)

Nightmare: Adam Smasher is the Overlord-class boss added in Wuthering Waves 3.4 for the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collaboration. He drops the materials you need to ascend the two collab pistol units — Lucy and Rebecca — plus the brand-new Reminiscence: Nightmare Adam Smasher Echo. This guide covers where to find him, why he has no elemental weakness, how to read his move-set, the limited-time event version, and his full drop table.

Where to find Adam Smasher

Despite being the face of the Night City collab, Adam Smasher is not fought inside Night City itself. The arena sits in the Etching Plains area of the Lahai-Roi region, reached through a Somnoire Door. There are two ways in:

  • Story unlock — finish the collaboration Episodic Quest "At Dream's Edge", which opens the Somnoire Door to his arena.
  • Boss Challenge (early access) — before finishing the story you can already challenge him from Guidebook → Material Collection → Boss Challenge, the same Waveplate menu you use to farm Echo and ascension drops.

Adam Smasher has no elemental weakness

Unlike most Wuthering Waves bosses, Adam Smasher is not weak to any single element. His exploitable weakness is the collab status effect Hack-Shifting, which only Lucy and Rebecca can apply — the same mechanic that powers the new echo set. So the "intended" team is the collab duo themselves, but he is fundamentally a damage check rather than an elemental puzzle: any strong DPS can clear him, you simply lose the Hack-Shifting synergy.

Move-set and how to dodge it

  • Dash combo — he dashes straight at you, usually twice, finishing with an uppercut. Dodge through each dash; the uppercut knocks you down on hit.
  • Barrage — chip-damage rifle fire followed by a volley of tracking missiles that hit much harder. Keep moving to shake the missile lock.
  • Crush — he leaps high, fires on the way up, then slams straight down. Dodge on his descent, not the jump.
  • Sandevistan — he turns hyper-agile, chains rapid hits and leaps onto structures to slam down. He takes no damage while Sandevistan is active, so don't waste your rotation — dodge everything and watch the on-screen Tactical Hologram to see when the phase ends.

The Nightmare Challenge event (Jun 8 – Jul 9, 2026)

The collab also includes a harder, scripted version of the fight — the Nightmare Challenge event, opened from the Night City Roaming menu and running June 8 to July 9, 2026. The event boss scales to Lv. 80–100 across six stages and adds phase gates you won't see in the overworld fight:

  • ~50% HP — Sandevistan: ~30 seconds of hyperspeed where he auto-dodges everything except Rebecca's attacks. Wait it out or swap to Rebecca.
  • Charged one-shot: signalled by time freezing with a red flash. Parry it with Rebecca's Tactical Dodge to cancel the knockout.
  • ~40% HP — Nightmare Blackfield: he goes fully aggressive and takes no damage for the phase.
  • 0% HP — Digital Nightmare: he becomes immune and heals back toward ~40% HP. Hold your burst (e.g. Lucy's Liberation, +100% Total DMG for 30s) to blow through this final gate.
⚠️ These HP thresholds are confirmed for the scripted Nightmare Challenge event. The plain overworld Boss Challenge version is more forgiving and may not gate at the same percentages.

Best teams

  • Collab core: Lucy + Rebecca + Shorekeeper — both DPS apply Hack-Shifting and feed each other's buffs; Shorekeeper covers healing and energy.
  • Event-tuned: Lucy, Rebecca, Mornye — the event grants extra buffs to these three.
  • No collab units? Any premium main-DPS core (e.g. Camellya / Carlotta / Hiyuki plus a healer) clears the overworld version — you just don't get the Hack-Shifting bonus.

Event tactics: open with Lucy's Resonance Liberation for the +100% Total DMG window, break his poise fast during Tune Break, swap frequently between Rebecca and Lucy to keep their buffs rolling, and keep Rebecca's Tactical Dodge ready to parry the one-shot.

Drops & the Reminiscence Echo

  • Nightmare Flashdrive — the ascension material for Lucy and Rebecca. (Lucilla is the 3.4 Glacio Rectifier and is not on this boss's drop table — see her own build guide.)
  • Reminiscence: Nightmare Adam Smasher — a 4-Cost, Overlord-class Echo and the only Echo in the new Shadow of Shattered Dreams sonata set.
  • Shadow of Shattered Dreams (1-piece): inflicting Hack-Shifting grants +35% Basic Attack DMG and Heavy Attack DMG for 15s. Unusually, this set has no 2-piece or 5-piece bonus — the single echo is the whole set.
  • Echo skill: deals 16 instances of Physical DMG (10.26% of ATK each). On Lucy it becomes a Spectro time-slow effect; on Rebecca it fires homing Electro missiles.
  • Other drops: Union EXP, Shell Credit, Advanced Sealed Tube, Advanced Resonance Potion, Advanced Energy Core, and a Standard Weapon Mold.

FAQ

Is Adam Smasher a limited-time boss?

The scripted Nightmare Challenge event is limited (June 8 – July 9, 2026) and is unlikely to return after the collab. The boss itself, farmable via the Guidebook Boss Challenge, appears to remain accessible after the collab story — but Kuro Games has not formally confirmed permanence, so farm Lucy/Rebecca materials while 3.4 is live to be safe.

What element should I bring?

It doesn't matter — there is no elemental weakness. Bring your strongest DPS; the only real synergy bonus comes from Lucy and Rebecca's Hack-Shifting.

Do I have to finish the story to fight him?

No. You can challenge him early through Guidebook → Material Collection → Boss Challenge without completing "At Dream's Edge."
